The DRC applies for a duplicate registration certificate (RC1) or deregistration certificate when the original is lost, damaged or destroyed.

When you would use the DRC

  • Your RC1 registration certificate is lost or damaged
  • A sale cannot proceed without the registration certificate
  • A deregistration certificate must be replaced

What the DRC asks for

  • Identification of the person or organisation (ID number, or business/traffic register number for a company)
  • Vehicle identification (licence number, VIN/chassis, engine number, make and model)
  • A declaration explaining the loss
  • Signature of the applicant or an authorised proxy or representative
